about the artist

Through painting, Emma Niamh Turpin explores the female experience, the mind-body connection, and how emotions are held and expressed through the physical self. Her work moves between abstraction and figuration, built up through layers of acrylic, oil stick, and pencil to create richly textured surfaces.

Irish-born and Hackney-based, Turpin studied Fine Art in Dublin and Photography at Central Saint Martins, going on to work in photography and advertising before returning to painting. Her work has been exhibited in London, Dublin, Berlin, and Barcelona.

She also writes about creativity, motherhood and figuring things out in public on her Substack “The Unfinished Work”.
